A Brief Newsletter for Holistic Problem-Solving and Living.
I'm not a guru, just documenting some interesting ideas I'm experimenting with weekly to live a great life. I hope you find it useful. It finishes with something that made me laugh recently.
1. Wonderful Health
I noticed the benefits of Daily Pages, where you write the first thing that comes to mind or stream of consciousness for 3 pages, which takes approximately 15 to 40 minutes depending on how you do it. This practice has gained massive appeal among many artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives, who swear by its power to improve mental, physical health, and creative output. Click here for a more detailed overview.
But I was thinking instead of just expressing myself freely through writing, what if I did it with my entire body? So I've been testing out "20 Minutes of Daily Intuitive Movement," which is similar but uses your entire body.
The benefits I've found include freeing up my ability to express myself and process some of the uncomfortable emotions, helping me tap into my intuition. Also, weirdly, a handful of times simply by following the 5 steps, it's led to tears of joy or relief.
Here's how I've done it:
Set a timer for 20 minutes or longer, in a private room where you won't be disturbed.
No music, just silence.
Set your intention to be fully present with yourself.
Then allow yourself to move, speak, and breathe in a way your body wants to move, no matter how weird. (If you're scared you'll freak out the people in your house or next to you, you can do it quietly haha)
Focus on staying present with yourself throughout the practice, and you can continue for longer if you want to. Allow anything to pass through you.
2. Outstanding Relationships
I've noticed in myself and others that we can get "status anxiety/arrogance." If you meet someone you look up to or who is really famous, successful, wealthy, or more skilled than you in a craft. I've sometimes been very nervous, not expressed myself fully, or felt like I was a bit of a suck-up in these interactions in the past. Then I've been slightly annoyed with myself for being like that afterward. Or the opposite can be true: If I view someone as less than me, I've subconsciously not been open to listening to someone with a valuable opinion who may be less experienced or younger than me in something.
As a standard, I'd like to feel similarly and treat the same person who comes to pick up my garbage as one of my biggest childhood heroes, or a girl I have a crush on as one that I don't.
A lot of the anxiety or arrogance can come from:
Perceiving a big loss or gain from the interaction.
Seeing someone as very different from you.
Feeling like talking to them is not valuable for you or it isn't valuable for them to talk to you.
A few phrases I will remind myself of before talking to people this week are:
"It's safe to be completely honest and myself around anyone."
"I am more similar to everyone (or insert person) than I am different."
"I can add massive value to anyone's life, and anyone can add massive value to my life."
"No matter what happens, I'm living my dream life."
3. Wholehearted Wealth
Money, intelligence, looks, and connections can all help you win. But there is one thing that trumps them all: the desire to constantly improve and taking action to improve.
If you want a more in-depth understanding of this, I got it from a short Alex Hormozi did - Click here
So….
What do you currently believe is the number 1 thing that would be most valuable for you to improve?
And what is one action you can take this week to improve it?
4. One Thing to Serve the Common Good
Who's one person who you currently believe is most important for you to serve or help this week?
What is something you could do to best help them?
5. Non Sense that Made Me Laugh
A comedy skit about flying Air Zimbabwe. Personally, the last time I flew Air Zimbabwe I had a great experience. But this did make me laugh.
What a great read! I’m definitely gonna try the intuitive movement. I like what you said about approaching and interacting with everyone as an equal. Powerful reminder.
